Michael Best is pleased to announce the addition of Andrew P. Shelby to its ranks as Partner, further strengthening the firm’s deep Labor & Employment bench. Shelby will be based in the Chicago office.
With more than 15 years of experience, Shelby is a seasoned commercial litigator and trial lawyer who counsels clients on disputes involving employment issues, class actions and business torts, real estate and merger transactions, professional negligence, and breach of contract. He has experience with employment law, class action defense, commercial contract and tort disputes, regulatory and compliance, government contracting, and professional malpractice defense.

Shelby boasts a noteworthy list of favorable outcomes in his legal résumé including representing Fortune 500 companies, public and private businesses, entrepreneurs, real estate developers, as well as other lawyers and law firms. In addition to his litigation career, he proactively advises business and legal executives on the development and implementation of new strategies and business practices to address areas of legal exposure, avoid and resolve litigation, and reduce legal spend.

Prior to joining Michael Best, Shelby served as Partner at an Am Law 200 firm, and before that, a boutique litigation firm.
Shelby received his J.D., cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law and his B.A., with distinction, in Philosophy from Kenyon College.
