Overview

Daniel is an Associate in Michael Best’s litigation practice. He represents businesses and individuals in all phases of commercial and civil disputes, from pre-litigation facilitation up to courtroom litigation and appeals. He also advises corporations conducting and defending internal investigations and counsels clients confronting regulatory enforcement action.  

Prior to joining Michael Best, Daniel worked as an Associate at a Boulder-based litigation boutique, specializing in business litigation, investigations, and appeals. In addition, Daniel served as an Assistant Attorney General Fellow at the Colorado Attorney General’s Office.

While in law school, Daniel served as Editor-in-Chief of the Transportation Law Journal. Daniel also externed with the Office of Legal Counsel for Colorado Governor Jared Polis, Colorado Supreme Court Justice Carlos Samour, former U.S. Magistrate Judge Kristen Mix, and an in-house legal team at a technology company.

Experience

Daniel has successfully represented clients in the following matters:

  • First-chaired case and obtained a bench verdict on behalf of the Second Judicial District in a quiet title action
  • Represented former CTO of a publicly traded company in employment dispute at trial, winning jury verdict on all claims for relief
  • Represented founder of cannabis company at trial and in post-trial enforcement proceedings, with judgment and enforcement actions largely affirmed by the Tenth Circuit
  • Represented insurance company in breach of professional liability policy claim, winning on summary judgment
  • Obtained dismissal of a federal lawsuit filed against Governor Polis in a case challenging the Governor’s executive orders
  • Represented individual in appeal of district court decision dismissing breach of contract complaint, obtaining reversal by the Colorado Court of Appeals
  • Represented wholesaler in post-acquisition earnout dispute, obtaining a global settlement
  • Represented a registered investment adviser in an internal investigation and SEC enforcement proceeding
  • Represented company in the investigation and settlement of a consumer protection proceeding initiated by the Colorado Attorney General’s Office
  • Represented three individuals in connection with a PCAOB investigation concerning audit quality, with none charged
