Katarina is a member of the firm’s labor and employment relations practice group. She started her Michael Best career as a summer associate, returned as a law clerk, and then joined the firm as an associate attorney after receiving her law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
Katarina represents employers in a wide range of litigation matters, including allegations of discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, and wage and hour claims, in state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies. Katarina also defends clients in unemployment hearings. Her practice also involves advising clients on the development and implementation of workplace policies and drafting employment contracts, termination agreements, and policies.
Before joining the firm, Katarina previously worked as a legal intern with a jury consulting and research firm, where she gained valuable experience with juror selection analytics and process. In legal internships with financial and investment services technology start-ups, Katarina reviewed and revised contracts, helped develop contract negotiation playbooks, and ensured contracts complied with applicable regulations. Her experience also includes a legal internship with the Broome County District Attorney’s Office in New York, where she assisted with investigations and conducted legal research.
While in law school, Katarina worked as a pro bono volunteer, participated in mock trial, and held a board position on the North Carolina Law Review.
