Michael Best is pleased to announce that Jorge M. Leon has been selected as one of the 2019 Notable Minorities in Accounting, Consulting & Law by Crain’s Chicago Business. The award honors individuals that have shown the ability or power to effect change in their role or area of practice, serve as a role model or mentor, and have assumed a leadership position outside their organization.
Leon is a partner in and co-leads the firm’s Employee Benefits practice based in the Chicago office. With more than 20 years of experience, Leon has counseled clients in a variety of industries on the design, establishment, and maintenance of retirement plans. He has implemented various diversity initiatives at Michael Best and currently serves as the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee Chair.
Among his achievements, Leon was recently rated and honored by the exclusive Chambers USA, named a Top Latino Lawyer by Latino Leaders Magazine, elected a fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and included in Who’s Who in Hispanic Chicago by Negocios Now. Leon is also a fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity and a member of the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce’s leadership advisory council. He is on the boards of the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois Charities and Gads Hill Center, a 120-year-old nonprofit serving Chicago’s Hispanic community.
