Earlier this month, Michael Best & Friedrich announced that Sarah Alt would serve as its first chief process and AI officer, making the firm one of the first to have an AI-focused C-suite role.
Previously, Alt worked as the firm’s chief business officer, leveraging her strengths as a technologist focused on AI’s legal and ethical implications. For Michael Best and its clients, the new role isn’t simply a practical necessity, but also a statement: they care about AI and how their clients use it, she said.
Alt spoke to Legaltech News about the legal issues that are most pressing for clients using AI, her firm’s decision to block ChatGPT use internally, and what her crystal ball says about future AI regulation.
