Michael Best is pleased to announce that Duncan Williams has joined the firm as Senior Counsel in the Denver office. Williams will be part of the Intellectual Property practice group, focusing on the Licensing & Technology Agreements sub-practice.
Williams brings nearly two decades of legal IP experience, both in-house and private practice, to Michael Best. He has extensive experience in drafting and negotiating complex software and patent licenses, IP acquisitions and divestitures, SaaS agreements, software development agreements, and is also experienced with cloud services, data privacy, information security, and terms and conditions for websites and mobile apps. He also has a strong background in patent prosecution and litigation, especially in the areas of software and medical devices.

Prior to joining Michael Best, Williams was Senior Corporate Counsel at iHeartMedia Inc., where he directed the company's patent strategy, managed all patent litigation and pre-litigation disputes, and drafted and negotiated high-priority inbound and outbound agreements. Before that, he worked as a patent and IP attorney at various law firms.

Williams earned his J.D. from George Washington University Law School, while working full-time as a Thermodynamics Instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy. He received his M.S. in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University, and his B.S., cum laude, in Physics from University of Florida.
