Michael Best is pleased to share that Louise Arnott has been recognized in the 4th Annual Women in Law Awards list by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. The honorees were evaluated for their work to mentor and promote other women in the profession, their success in the legal community, and being a shining example of leadership.
Arnott, an Intellectual Property Partner based in Michael Best’s Chicago office, focuses her practice on all aspects of brand protection including trademark, copyright, advertising, and online enforcement. She manages complex global trademark portfolios and counsels clients on trademark clearance, prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement. Arnott advises clients in a variety of industries, including a Fortune 500 investment and financial services firm, an iconic designer and manufacturer of furniture, a premier agribusiness and food company, a championship winning sports team, among many others.
Focusing on building her practice to empower and promote women professionals, Arnott dedicated her practice to building strong relationships with women in-house counsel, industry colleagues, and professionals at Michael Best. Women-led legal teams are a priority for Arnott, and she ensures her Michael Best colleagues have the opportunity to participate and interact regularly with clients, participate in client pitches, and attend networking events.
Outside of her robust legal practice, Arnott devotes much of her time to helping others in both the local Chicago and intellectual property legal communities. With a passion for mentoring the next generation of lawyers, Arnott serves as an adjunct professor at the Chicago-Kent College of Law where she teaches Legal Writing IV with a focus on trademark and copyright law. She is an active member of the Richard Linn Inn of Court, an American Inn of Court, where she serves as an assigned mentor for young attorneys. Arnott is also an active in Michael Best’s Women’s Development Group, a group focused on identifying and addressing issues of particular concern to women at Michael Best and in the legal profession in general. Arnott hopes to continue the promotion of women in leadership roles and training the next generation of leadership through her recent appointment to the International Trademark Association (INTA) Leadership Development Committee.
Arnott is also deeply passionate about philanthropy and volunteerism. In particular, supporting leading-edge cancer research and patient care at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. That drive led her to co-found and co-chair of the Associate Board of Lurie Cancer Center, a newly created organization comprised of professionals dedicated to advancing cancer research, education, patient care, and community benefit. She is also a member of the Friends of Lurie Cancer Center Advisory Board, and she regularly volunteers at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center offering beauty services to patients undergoing chemotherapy and stem cell transplants and delivering complimentary meals to cancer patients undergoing outpatient infusions through a partner organization, Culinary Care.
Arnott has also been recognized by U.S. News’ Best Lawyers – Women in the Law: Ones to Watch, and she has been named an ‘Emerging Lawyer’ in the Chicago region by Leading Lawyers.
