Michael Best is pleased to announce that James Forrest, Managing Partner of North Carolina, has been appointed to The Duke Children’s National Leadership Council (Duke Children’s) for a three-year term.
Dedicated to the advancement of pediatric healthcare by providing compassionate care to children of all ages in a family-friendly environment, the Duke Children’s National Leadership Council is committed to enhancing Duke Children’s to be one of the most outstanding children’s centers in the world. As a member of the council, Forrest will promote Duke Children’s mission to transform care for children locally, nationally, and globally by being an ambassador. Forrest said “This is such a natural fit for community service for me as Duke Children’s Hospital has been so good to our family. We are so grateful and I consider it a privilege to be involved.”
Forrest’s relationship with Duke Children’s has evolved at a personal level. His nine-year-old son, Zach, has been a patient there and owes life-saving medical procedures to the health organization. Zach is a Duke Patient Champion and represents the Children’s Hospital at local events. Forrest and his family are constantly involved in awareness initiatives, most recently the Duke Men's Basketball Private Practice Session. The event gave children a chance to step away from the hospital to spend time with local heroes, in which his son and other patients were able to participate.
Furthering his dedication and reach to the greater North Carolina community, Forrest has served with several organizations throughout his career, including the Duke DREAM Campaign (Developing Research Excellence in Anesthesia Management), First Tee of the Triangle, the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce, Kidznotes, Inc., the Durham Symphony Orchestra, Durham CrimeStoppers, Leadership Triangle, Leadership Durham, Mission Triangle, Corporate Chaplains of America, the Durham Rescue Mission, The Summit Church and the Raleigh Rescue Mission.
