Leah’s practice focuses on employee benefits and executive compensation. She assists both public and private companies with a wide variety of employee benefits matters, ranging from plan design and administration to legal compliance, fiduciary duties, and employee benefits litigation.
Leah is skilled in advising on health and welfare-related administration and compliance issues that arise under ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA).
Leah is also experienced in developing and advising clients on novel fiduciary compliance strategies for ERISA cybersecurity, stemming from her assistance on the successful defenses for one of the first ERISA cybersecurity litigations.
Prior to joining Michael Best, Leah was previously a Summer Associate with the firm. She also gained valuable legal experience working as a clinical student with Legal Assistance for Institutionalized Persons (LAIP) through the Frank J. Remington Center where she assisted incarcerated persons with various post-conviction legal claims. Prior to law school, Leah was an intern with the Wisconsin State Public Defender.
