Tara focuses her practice on intellectual property matters, specifically in the area of mechanical patent preparation and prosecution in the U.S. and around the globe. She has worked with a diverse range of technologies including power tools, water filtration systems, submersible pumps, underground and surface mining machines, vacuum cleaners, and lighting fixtures, among others.
In her prior role at Michael Best as a Patent Engineer, Tara gained experience drafting design and utility patent applications for various clients. Her recent matters include:
- Assisted attorneys with the successful prosecution of an industrial lighting fixture patent before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
- Assisted attorneys with nonāinfringement opinions and successfully prosecuted patent applications for power tools, hand tools, and accessories in Australian, Canadian, Chinese, European, and U.S. Patent Offices
- Ongoing patent protection for water filtration equipment
Prior to joining the firm, Tara participated in Michael Best’s EDGE program for young engineers and scientists. While earning her undergraduate degree at Marquette University, she served as a research assistant, focusing on fluid mechanics. Earlier, Tara gained experience as an intern in General Motors’ Hybrid and Electrification department.
