Terrell focuses his practice on commercial and residential real estate transactions, residential mortgage servicing and related areas, and corporate and securities transactions for private and publicly traded clients in a variety of industries. With more than 40 years of experience, he has deep knowledge in the areas of real property financing, mortgage banking and servicing, distressed asset acquisitions, nonperforming loan workouts, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance and operations for local and national firms.
Prior to joining Michael Best, Terrell was of counsel to Kruse Landa Maycock and Ricks, LLC (KLMR), where he handled corporate funding, mergers and acquisitions, and SEC periodic reporting and securities registrations.
In 1989, he co-founded Fairbanks Capital Corp. in Salt Lake City (now known as Select Portfolio Servicing, Inc.), which grew to a company servicing $55 billion in residential mortgage loans. There, Terrell served as executive vice president and general counsel, managing all legal aspects of the company’s operations, including acquisitions of whole loan portfolios, servicing rights and mortgage servicing platforms, and licensing and regulatory compliance matters.
During Terrell’s 15 years with Fairbanks Capital, he gained valuable experience in all aspects of corporate management and operations, which benefits his corporate clients as he assists them with corporate transactions.
