Emily represents emerging companies, founders, and investors at the intersection of law, technology, and venture, assisting clients through various stages of start-up development, from initial capitalization, to venture capital financing, to exit. She has experience working with clients in various industries, including the finance and banking, agtech, and fintech sectors.
Before joining Michael Best, Emily was an associate at a general practice law firm based in the Midwest. She served as outside general counsel for numerous companies in the high-growth technology sector, and assisted with day-to-day legal and business matters, ranging from technology transactions and privacy compliance to corporate governance.
Most recently, she served as an associate with a global AmLaw 100 firm, where she assisted with private equity and venture capital financings for emerging technology start-ups, both on the company- and investor-side.
While pursuing her Master of Laws in Law & Entrepreneurship at Duke University, Emily was a legal extern in Michael Best’s Raleigh office.
